Crestview, Austin, Texas is a neighborhood in north central Austin, in the U.S. state of Texas. Crestview is located in ZIP code 78757. The Crestview neighborhood was built by developer A.B. Beddow on the site of an old dairy farm in the 1950s and early 1960s. Crestview is bordered by Wooten and West Anderson Lane to the north, Allandale and Burnet Road to the west, Brentwood and Justin Lane to the south and the Highland neighborhood and North Lamar Boulevard to the east. It is located north of the city's urban core. Some local icons have deep roots, including the former Minimax grocery store (est. 1953, now an Arlan's)[3] and Top Notch Burgers (est. 1971), while other landmarks such as the 120-foot (37 m) mosaic Wall of Welcome (March 2008), JuiceLand and the Burnet Road Farmers Market are more recent arrivals. West Lake Hills is a city in Travis County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,063 at the 2010 census. The city developed rapidly in the 1970s and 1980s on the south side of the Colorado River. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.7 square miles.As of the&nbsp;census[1]&nbsp;of 2000, there were 3,116 people, 1,143 households, and 873 families residing in the city. The&nbsp;population density&nbsp;was 835.7 people per square mile (322.5/km2). There were 1,185 housing units at an average density of 317.8 per square mile (122.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.60%&nbsp;White, 0.29%&nbsp;African American, 0.29%&nbsp;Native American, 1.28%&nbsp;Asian, 0.71% from&nbsp;other races, and 1.83% from two or more races.&nbsp;Hispanic&nbsp;or&nbsp;Latino&nbsp;of any race were 3.85% of the population.There were 1,143 households out of which 40.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.0% were&nbsp;married couples&nbsp;living together, 5.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.6% were non-families. 17.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.10.In the city, the population was spread out with 28.1% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 35.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males.The median income for a household in the city of Westlake Hills was $116,905, and the median income for a family was $232,913. Males had a median income of $116,371 versus $43,969 for females. The&nbsp;per capita income&nbsp;for the city was $55,651. About 0.6% of families and 2.0% of the population were below the&nbsp;poverty line, including 1.8% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over. In June 2010, the average home price was $1,225,697.

Westlake Hills

Austin is the state capital of Texas, an inland city bordering the Hill Country region. Home to the University of Texas flagship campus, Austin is known for its eclectic live-music scene centered around country, blues and rock. Its many parks and lakes are popular for hiking, biking, swimming and boating. South of the city, Formula One's Circuit of the Americas raceway has hosted the United States Grand Prix.
Residents of Austin are known as&nbsp;Austinites.&nbsp;They include a diverse mix of government employees, college students, musicians, high-tech workers, digital marketers, and&nbsp;blue-collar workers. The city's official slogan promotes Austin as "The Live Music Capital of the World", a reference to the city's many musicians and live music venues, as well as the long-running&nbsp;PBS&nbsp;TV concert series&nbsp;Austin City Limits.&nbsp;The city also adopted "Silicon Hills" as a nickname in the 1990s due to a rapid influx of technology and development companies. In recent years, some Austinites have adopted the unofficial slogan "Keep Austin Weird",&nbsp;which refers to the desire to protect small, unique, and local businesses from being overrun by large corporations.&nbsp;Since the late 19th century, Austin has also been known as the "City of the Violet Crown", because of the colorful glow of light across the hills just after sunset.
In 1987, Austin originated and remains the site for&nbsp;South by Southwest&nbsp;(stylized as SXSW and colloquially referred to as&nbsp;South By), an annual conglomeration of parallel&nbsp;film,&nbsp;interactive media, and&nbsp;music festivals&nbsp;and&nbsp;conferences that take place in mid-March. Emerging from a strong economic focus on government and education, since the 1990s, Austin has become a center for technology and business. A number of&nbsp;Fortune 500&nbsp;companies have headquarters or regional offices in Austin, including&nbsp;3M,&nbsp;Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

Round Rock is a city near Austin, Texas. It's known for its outdoor activities and historic sites. The Round Rock, a large stone in Brushy Creek, marks the site where wagons made low-water crossings in the 19th century. Nearby, Chisholm Trail Crossing Park has plaques detailing the city’s cattle-driving history. Old Settlers Park includes baseball fields, playgrounds, a disc golf course, and a fish-stocked lake. The city straddles the&nbsp;Balcones Escarpment,&nbsp;a fault line in which the areas roughly east of&nbsp;Interstate 35&nbsp;are flat and characterized by having black, fertile soils of the&nbsp;Blackland Prairie, and the west side of the Escarpment, which consists mostly of hilly,&nbsp;karst-like&nbsp;terrain with little topsoil and higher elevations and which is part of the&nbsp;Texas Hill Country. Located about 20 miles (32&nbsp;km) north of downtown Austin, Round Rock shares a common border with&nbsp;Austin&nbsp;at&nbsp;Texas State Highway 45. In August 2008,&nbsp;Money&nbsp;named Round Rock as the seventh-best American small city in which to live.&nbsp;Round Rock was the only Texas city to make the Top 10. In a CNN article dated July 1, 2009, Round Rock was listed as the second-fastest-growing city in the country, with a population growth of 8.2% in the preceding year. According to the 2008 ratings from the Texas Education Agency, the&nbsp;Round Rock Independent School District&nbsp;ranks among the best in the state. Of 42 schools within it, 12 were rated exemplary and 11 were recognized. Round Rock is perhaps best known as the international headquarters of&nbsp;Dell Technologies, which employs about 16,000 people at its Round Rock facilities.&nbsp;The presence of Dell along with other major employers,&nbsp;an economic development program, major retailers such as&nbsp;IKEA, a&nbsp;Premium Outlet Mall, and the mixed-use&nbsp;La Frontera&nbsp;center, have changed Round Rock from a sleepy&nbsp;bedroom community&nbsp;into its own self-contained "super suburb".

Bordering Lady Bird Lake, the Barton Hills area is a top destination for outdoor recreation. 350-acre Zilker Park features a spring-fed pool called Barton Springs, plus botanical gardens, a sculpture garden and athletic fields. It also plays host to the annual Austin City Limits Music Festival. The Barton Creek Greenbelt offers miles of rugged hiking and biking trails as well as seasonal swimming holes.

Barton Hills is bounded by&nbsp;South Lamar&nbsp;and&nbsp;Zilker&nbsp;neighborhoods to the east, Barton Springs Road and&nbsp;Zilker Park&nbsp;to the north, Barton Creek and the&nbsp;Spyglass-Barton's Bluff&nbsp;neighborhood to the west and the&nbsp;Capital of Texas Highway to the south. Barton Hills is primarily residential, with the oldest homes dating back to the 1940s. Additionally, the area is home to several attractions including the Barton Creek Greenbelt nature preserve and the&nbsp;Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum. Just north of the neighborhood are&nbsp;Barton Springs Pool, a natural spring fed by Barton Creek, and the 351-acre Zilker Park.
According to data from the&nbsp;U.S. Census Bureau, the population of the area defined as Barton Hills was 7,993 in 2009, across an area of 3.199 square miles. The population density per square miles is 2,499, just below the citywide average of 2,610 people per square mile. The racial breakdown is 80% white, 12% Hispanic/Latino, 4% Asian/Pacific Island, 2% black and 2% other. Median household income in 2009 was $51,930, slightly above the median household income for the city at large. The average estimated value of detached houses in 2009 was $395,682, notably higher than the citywide average of $286,025.

Barton Hills

Bastrop is a city and the county seat of Bastrop County, Texas, United States. Located about 30 mi southeast of Austin, it is part of the Greater Austin metropolitan area. The population was 7,218 according to the 2010 census.
Spanish soldiers lived temporarily at the current site of Bastrop as early as 1804, when a fort was established where the&nbsp;Old San Antonio Road&nbsp;crossed the Colorado River and named&nbsp;Puesta del Colorado. Bastrop's namesake,&nbsp;Felipe Enrique Neri, Baron de Bastrop, was a commoner named Philip Hendrik Nering Bogel, who was wanted for&nbsp;embezzlement&nbsp;in his native country of the&nbsp;Netherlands. In Texas, he assisted&nbsp;Moses&nbsp;and&nbsp;Stephen F. Austin&nbsp;in obtaining land grants in Texas and served as Austin's land commissioner. In 1827, Austin located about 100 families in an area adjacent to his earlier Mexican contracts. Austin arranged for Mexican officials to name a new town there after the baron who died the same year.
Bastrop is located near the center of Bastrop County along the lower&nbsp;Colorado River. The downtown business district of the city is located on a bluff on the east bank of the river, but the city extends to the west side of the river, as well. According to the&nbsp;United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.1 square miles (23.6&nbsp;km2), of which 9.0&nbsp;sq&nbsp;mi (23.3&nbsp;km2) are land and 0.12 square miles (0.3&nbsp;km2), or 1.23%, is covered by water. Three miles (5&nbsp;km) northeast of the town,&nbsp;Lake Bastrop&nbsp;is a 906-acre (3.67&nbsp;km2) reservoir on Spicer Creek operated by the&nbsp;Lower Colorado River Authority&nbsp;(LCRA) since its impounding in 1964. Although primarily used as a cooling pond for the&nbsp;Sim Gideon Power Plant, the lake is also used for recreation, and the LCRA maintains two public parks on the lake.

Bastrop

The town of Buda sprang up along the route of the International-Great Northern Railroad, which was extended from Austin to San Antonio in 1880. Buda bore the name of "Du Pre" from its birth in 1881 until the autumn of 1887, when postal officials became aware that another Texas town was also named Du Pre.
Cornelia Trimble platted the town of Du Pre on April 1, 1881, establishing streets and a 150-foot (46 m) wide "Reservation" between the lots and the railroad right of way, which allowed the railroad to place buildings on the parkland, including the depot that would become the lifeblood of the town over the next few decades. Several businesses sprang up, including the Carrington Hotel, which served meals to railroad travelers.
By the time Du Pre found a new name for itself, the Carrington hotel was known as the "Buda House". The "Dupre Notes" column of the Sept. 25, 1886, edition of the Hays County Times and Farmer's Journal notes that "The Buda House is one of the best hotels in the state. The polite and entertaining hostess, Mrs. Carrington, meets all with a courteous welcome." According to the town's oral tradition, "Buda" is a corruption of the Spanish word viuda, or "widow", referencing the widows who supposedly worked as cooks at the Carrington Hotel. Others suggest that like the town of Buda, Illinois, the town name is a nod to the exiles of the failed Hungarian Revolution of 1848 who settled in the area. Buda was incorporated in 1948. By the mid-1980s it had attracted a cement plant and some craft industry.

Fort Hood is a United States Army post located in Killeen, Texas.It is located halfway between Austin and Waco, about 60 miles (97 km) from each, within the U.S. state of Texas. The post is the headquarters of III Corps and First Army Division West and is home to the 1st Cavalry Division and 3rd Cavalry Regiment, among others. Its origin was the need for wide-open space to test and train with World War II tank destroyers. The War Department announced the location in January 1942, and the initial completion was set for that August. As originally constructed, Fort Hood had an area of 158,706 acres (64,226 ha), with billeting for 6,007 officers and 82,610 enlisted personnel. The main cantonment of Fort Hood had a total population of 53,416 as of the 2010 U.S. Census. Fort Hood is the most populous U.S. military installation in the world. The main business area is in Bell County, with the training countryside area of the post in Coryell County. In April 2014, the Fort Hood website lists 45,414 assigned soldiers and 8,900 civilian employees with Fort Hood covering 214,000 acres (87,000 ha).

Hutto&nbsp;is a city in&nbsp;Williamson County, Texas, United States. It is part of the&nbsp;Austin&ndash;Round Rock&nbsp;metropolitan area. The population was 14,698 at the 2010 census.
Hutto is located at 30&deg;32&prime;40&Prime;N 97&deg;32&prime;43&Prime;W (30.544517, &minus;97.545198), about seven miles (11 km) east of Round Rock and 22 miles (35 km) northeast of Austin.
According to the&nbsp;United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.75&nbsp;square miles (20.1&nbsp;km2), all of it land.

Historically, Hutto was established in 1876 when the&nbsp;International-Great Northern Railroad&nbsp;passed through land owned by James Emory Hutto (1824-1914), for whom the community is named. Railroad officials designated the stop Hutto Station. James Hutto was born in Alabama on June 8, 1824; he came to Texas in 1847 and moved his family to Williamson County in 1855. A slave, Adam Orgain, was actually the first person to live in the immediate Hutto vicinity, having been placed out on the blackland prairie by his owner to watch after the cattle and livestock holdings. In 1876, James Hutto sold 50 acres (200,000&nbsp;m2) to the Texas Land Company of New York for a town site and railroad right of way. Hutto had become a wealthy cattleman in Williamson County, but in 1885, he left Hutto and moved to Waco and entered the hardware business. Other early settlers in the area were the Carpenter, Davis, Evans, Farley, Goodwin, Highsmith, Johnson, Magle, Payne, Saul, Weight, Womack, and Wright families. Other people living in Hutto during the 1890s included the Armstrongs, the Ahlbergs, M.B. Kennedy, the Hugh Kimbro family, William McCutcheon, Green Randolph, J.B. Ross and the Tisdales. Soon, a great many more people, primarily Swedish and German immigrants, came to this area to farm and ranch and begin their new lives in America.
